The Daily Creed

I, Jonathan Camac, accept the call of Jesus Christ to suffer for righteousness sake, and I acknowledge all those who have gone before me and died to this end.

To do this, I believe:

That this day is not mine. It is sustained by the word and purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ.

That I exist to serve others in the power and example of Jesus Christ – who gave his food to the hungry, his welcome to the outcast, his table to the disreputable, his visit and word to the sick, his ear to the critic, his time to the unworthy and needy, his grace to the sinner, and his life for all.

Therefore, I understand that:

Today is not the day to bolster my resume or further my agenda. More important than personal gain in finance, health, fitness, esteem or leisure – is the gain and wellbeing of my neighbours.

I am filled with all the fullness of the love, power and knowledge of Jesus Christ. To the purpose of spending and being spent today for the good of others, for the glory of God.

Finally, I concede that at day’s end there is a dignity in defeat, because where all human endeavour is exhausted, glory shines out of the truth that victory is found in Jesus Christ, and in his name alone.
